January KAL

In our latest newsletter we announced a January knit-along for the Flutter pattern by Tomomi Yoshimoto. It is a beautiful colorwork scarf, knit in-the-round as a long tube. Those of you who have looked up the pattern will have seen that it is quite an investment of time but yields stunning results. The scarf is knit at a 33 stitch gauge, using light fingering weight yarn. The floral pattern is hand-drawn and does not have regular repeats. Starting to sound like too much to take on? Do not be put off!!! We intend to modify the pattern to make a cowl using sport weight yarn. We will cast on two repeats of the motif (88 stitches) and knit for approximately 18 inches and then mattress stitch the ends together to make a cowl. It will be beautiful - and we will be here to help you all the way along! So, come and see us in the New Year (we reopen Tuesday, January 3), pick out two colors of your favorite sport weight yarn and join in! (Of course, you can absolutely knit the pattern as written - and hats off to you if you do!)
